課程概述

This course is an introduction to physical therapy that covers the history, scope of practice, education, theories, professional development, and areas of specialization. While physical therapists play an important role in enhancing clients’ function and movement and are one of medical team members, knowledge concerning the physical and psychological adaptation of patients as well as competence in team collaboration and communication are addressed in this course. On-site clinical observations or visits are arranged to enhance students’ understanding of physical therapy. Platform presentation and written reports are required to facilitate students’ participation, information searching skills, and presentation skills. 

課程目標
After completing this course, students would be able to
1. understand the course structure of the School of Physical Therapy at NTU
2. describe the definition, history, theories, and scope of practice for physical therapy
3. describe the typical clients and clinical practice of physical therapy
4. describe the basic communication and consultation skills
5. search and organize information relevant to health, medicine and physical therapy
6. collaborate with colleagues in clinical visits and in disseminating findings
